NEXT Biomed is developing recombinant polypeptides as binder molecules, which can significantly improve the detection of HIV p24 capsid protein. The recombinant binder molecules are applicable in all various immunoassay platforms, such as automated and point-of-care test platforms. The high-affinity binders – currently under development – could even enable an assay performance close to nucleic acid amplification tests with a cost structure of immunoassays.

The p24-BHAP lead molecules are systematically improved through recombinant protein engineering at NEXT Biomed so that the binding affinity will ultimately outperform commonly used natural monoclonal antibodies.
