Nextavidin^TM

Nextavidin^TM is a new and revolutionary bioengineered recombinant avidin, which offers major advantages compared to avidin and streptavidin. Nextavidin^TM has the same extreme affinity for biotin, but in contrast to these natural avidins Nextavidin^TM can withstand harsh conditions and extended storage at room temperature without becoming inactivated due to disassembly of the four subunit structure required for tight biotin binding.

Nextavidin^TM remains intact and functional in high temperatures (>100°C) as well as in various solvents, and is highly resistant to proteases. For example, the biotin binding capacity of Nextavidin^TM remains unaffected during more than 40-rounds of PCR or treatment with 100% DMSO. Therefore Nextavidin^TM provides new possibilities in development of PCR-based diagnostics and DNA sequencing, as well as in drug discovery applications.

The favorable properties, in particular the long shelf-life of Nextavidin^TM also make it a superior reagent in all traditional uses of avidin and streptavidin.
